Summer Skin Myths: Hint… It’s Not Just About the Sun ☀️
Welcome
When most people think about summer skincare, they think about sunscreen.
And while sunscreen is important, the sun isn’t the only thing affecting your skin.
Heat, humidity, air conditioning, travel, pollution, pollen, sweat, and changes in routine can all impact how your skin looks and feels.
Today we’re going to bust some common summer skin myths and help you understand what your skin may actually be asking for.

MYTH #1: Shiny Skin Means Hydrated Skin
Fact: Oily skin and hydrated skin are not the same thing.
Many people experience dehydration during the summer even while their skin appears shiny.
Heat increases oil production, but oil does not equal moisture.
Signs of dehydration can include:
• Tightness
• Fine lines appearing more noticeable
• Dullness
• Sensitivity
• Increased oil production
Your skin may be asking for hydration, not harsher products.

MYTH #2: Oily Skin Needs a Stronger Cleanser
Fact: Heat naturally increases oil production.
Many people notice:
• Larger-looking pores
• More shine
• More congestion
• More breakouts
The instinct is often to strip away the oil.
Unfortunately, when skin becomes overly stripped, it can respond by producing even more oil.
Clean skin is important, especially during summer, but healthy skin is balanced skin.

MYTH #3: Summer Sensitivity Comes Only From The Sun
Fact: Summer throws a lot at your skin.
Potential stressors include:
• UV exposure
• Wind
• Heat
• Air conditioning
• Pool chemicals
• Pollution
• Pollen
• Cleaning products
• Increased screen exposure
• Changes in routine
Sometimes skin isn’t “sensitive.”
Sometimes it’s simply overwhelmed.

MYTH #4: Aging Concerns Take The Summer Off
Fact: Summer often makes aging concerns more visible.
Redness can appear stronger.
Uneven skin tone may become more noticeable.
Fine lines can appear enhanced when skin is dehydrated.
Many visible signs of aging are influenced by cumulative sun exposure over time.

MYTH #5: Your Skin Needs More Products
Fact: Your skin doesn’t necessarily need more products.
It needs smarter support.
The goal isn’t to chase every trend or add more steps.
The goal is understanding what your skin needs right now.
Sunscreen remains essential.
Choose:
• Broad spectrum protection
• SPF 30 for daily use
• SPF 50 for extended outdoor exposure
Apply sunscreen as the final step in your skincare routine.

Final Thoughts:
Your skin changes with the seasons.
What worked in January may not be what your skin needs in July.
The best skincare routine is one that adapts to your skin’s changing needs.
We’re not chasing youth. We’re reminding our skin how to function.

So How Do You Know What Your Skin Needs?
We’ve talked about common summer skin myths, but here’s the challenge:
Not everyone’s skin responds to summer the same way.
Some people become oilier.
Some become dehydrated.
Some experience increased sensitivity.
Some notice more redness, uneven tone, or breakouts.
Your skin is unique, and its needs can change from season to season.
That’s why I love personalized skincare.
A skin analysis helps take the guesswork out of skincare by looking at what your skin is doing right now—not what it was doing six months ago.

Smarter Support, Not More Products
Remember Myth #5?
Your skin doesn’t necessarily need more products.
It needs products that support what your skin is experiencing right now.
For example:
• Dehydrated skin may benefit from lightweight hydration and barrier support.
• Oily skin still needs hydration and gentle cleansing—not harsh stripping products.
• Sensitive or stressed skin may need calming and reparative ingredients.
• Skin exposed to heat, wind, air conditioning, and environmental stressors may benefit from extra protection and recovery support.
The goal isn’t to build the biggest skincare routine.
The goal is helping your skin function at its best.

Coming Soon: Caviar Cream
One of the most exciting new products is ABBI’s Caviar Cream. *
Designed to nourish, protect, and support the skin barrier, it creates a breathable “second skin” effect that helps support long-term skin health without feeling heavy or greasy.
What makes it especially interesting is that your skin already recognizes many of the nutrients it contains, allowing it to work with your skin rather than against it.
With 6% hydrolyzed caviar extract—a rich source of amino acids, trace minerals, and skin-native nutrients—it provides support that the skin already recognizes and knows how to use.
For mature skin, it offers comfort, nourishment, and visible support.
For younger skin, it provides preventative support and helps maintain healthy skin function.
And yes, it’s gentle enough to use around the eye area.
We’re not chasing youth.
We’re reminding our skin how to function
